Send a message via ICQ to Blu Send a message via AIM to Blu
So I sign on to AIM tonight, and my buddylist is empty. I'm like "what the hell?!" So I start adding people to the list, and nothing is happening. No one is online? So I add myself. Nothin. I signed on with my roomate's ID, and he had his list saved and everything. I don't get it. It's like I've been banned from the service.

F AOL!

try signing onto aim express(aka ghetto aim) at http://www.aol.com and see if your account works there... just add people to your list and see if they go online... if no one is one, well it's probably aol's fault. so i'd say wait a few hours and see if your account is fixed... if not, then email them. one of my friends had a problem where they couldn't sign on for a while and they emailed them and got it fixed... so best of luck :-)

if you download the new version of aim... they save your buddy list to server... so as long as the computer has the new version of aim on there, you will retain your buddy list from anywhere you log on... oh and it also retains it for aim express... :-)

What version of AIM are you using, blu? The thing with new AIM, save your buddy list at their server, well, sometimes their servers get screwed up. It's obviously a great feature but they still have lots of debug work to do.

Well, it was AOL's fault. I signed on later, and my list was correct. I'm not quite sure why it happened. Oh well. I've become less and less dependant on ICQ, b/c it's become super bloatware.

By the way, the new version of AIM doesn't ever save the list to your machine. The only way to do that is to save the list to your drive..

You could use ICQ 99a or 99b if you don't want to use the current one.

I'm using 99b by the way.

I use both icq and aim, and I find aim a lot better for chat. icq2000b would be good for chat if it didn't take up a good 4000% cpu. I downgraded back to 99b and it runs a lot better, but I like the message format of aim (and 2000b) a lot better. Hopefully icq will release an update that doesn't suck that bad. When I upgraded to 4.3, I lost my buddy list too, but I had saved my preferences to a blt file, and I reloaded them, and have had no problems since. I love the fact that it saves your buddy list, I have been waiting for that feature for a while.
