OK. I'm perplexed. I've been trying to copy my primary boot partition to a new harddrive that I'm installing to replace it.
When I copy the partition, Win2k boots up telling me that I don't have a page file (swap file) and keeps restarting windows (no rebooting). Very weird. 1. Has anyone else encountered this? 2. Is there a really good disk copying program that supports win2k? 3. Any ideas? |

What are you using now?
What are you trying to use now? I know the latest version of Ghost supports win2k ghost images. That would be your best bet, but read the cautions on symantec's website for compatibility.

This and that...
I first started by hand by copying in my multi-booted HD under win98. No dice. Then I used Maxtor's MaxBlast (EZDrive) same problem. What did work was a partition copy, then a system resuce and reinstall from the Win2k bootable CD. I'm up and boogying along now. Only took me about six hours of work...
...but I really want to know what files were not able to be copied by a partition copy. |

I would try ImageCast 3 from Innovative Software. I work at the university computer lab over here at cal state northridge and we used it to install Windows 2k on all of the computers over here. Compared to the Norton Ghost, ImageCast 3 ran alot faster. It was able to transfer up to 80mb/minute with up to 8 computers running in a Novell Setting. This compared to the Norton Ghost was almost twice as fast.
Norton is an ok brand, but Image Cast has my vote. It's at least an alternative to Norton mr
