Verizon FIOS
My sister has Verizon FIOS for TV, internet and phone. She lost her internet today. She called tech support. They go through different checks. She does something with the jacks. The guy says that it's the router.
She won't get a replacement modem till next week and she is furious. They told her a tech guy can come out for $90 per hour. Obviously, she won't pay that kind of money, especially since she is on a trial service with Verizon for about another month. Would she be able to disconnect and relocate the TV or phone so that she can get internet temporarily? I am doubting this, because I bet the connector is totally different for each device. |

I don't know how FIOS works but if she's on the trial service, I think she should try calling support and telling them she'll discontinue if they don't fix it. Or try talking to retention?

yeah... that'll happen to me every now and then with comcast as well. I'll lose signal and then 8-24 hours later, it'll work again. I get tired of talking with their customer support, cuz it always takes forever, so, I just wait and deal with it...

FIOS is pretty solid. but when there's a fiber outage it's catastrophic. like, it could be down 7 or more hours. and depending on where it is, it could interrupt service for other providers as well.
relocating the tv or the modem would not make any difference with fttp, unless there was a wiring issue. is the modem and the router the same unit? if not, powercycle the modem first, wait for it to sync, then plug in the router. generally that should do the trick. of course this can be next time it happens...but hopefully it doesn't.
