extra wireless access point
hey,
trying to help my bro-in-law get his wireless working properly. he has one router in the top floor of his house. but in the basement, has a hard time getting signal. so, I'm thinking that adding an extra acecss point on the middle floor could work. Are there access points that can connect to the router upstairs wirelessly, as well as allow wireless connections from the basement? |

Sounds like what you want is a repeater.

More like this. What you found is just an access point sans router.
http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Wirele..._tdp_sv_edpp_i Also if you're feeling like flexing your geek muscles you could pick up a http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Cisco-...tp_st_edpp_ttl (A specific kind of WRT54GL that uses Linux instead of the proprietary firmware that they ship with the newer/cheaper ones) and do this http://lifehacker.com/software/how-t...ter-265142.php. |

Check here for a list of routers that could run DD-WRT v24 firmware. And follow this instruction to turn the router into a repeater bridge with wireless connection capability.
