Sure. Are you trying to get the server connected without using a monitor or anything? That can be tricky, especially if like your friend suggested, if your computer is telling you that there is more RAM installed. Is your other computer a Desktop or a laptop? If it is a desktop, connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the never server and get it set up first. Make sure it is can connect to the internet, then try to connect to it from you other computer.

Yes, I'm trying to connect without using a monitor. I totally understand how it can be tricky, but HP's whole thing is that it's a cinch to set-up...yeah, ssssuuurreeee it is.... Quote:
My computer that I'm first trying it on is a Desktop. I will try to connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the never server and see if I can get it set up. Yeah, my buddy was telling me to put the original 512MB back and then upgrade after everything is set up...what a pain... Thanks for the continued input! ![]()

First things first: Is your router set up to use DHCP to give each PC an IP address? It needs to be set up this way for the Windows Home Server to work.
The EX475 is a Windows Home Server computer -- it's based on Windows Server 2003, rather than XP Pro. Furthermore, HP doesn't support adding more memory to the server (which you may have discovered after seeing how hard it was to access the RAM modules in the first place). One thing you can try doing is to click Start > Run, then type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. From the command prompt, type the following: ping HPSERVER You should get a response from it. If you get an error that Windows cannot find "HPSERVER" then there's either a network issue, or it's not even booting up (might be hard to tell, since I'm not sure if this server even has a VGA output.
