Is there any reason to buy a 23" HDTV vs. a Monitor
I want to set up a small TV in the bar in the basement. The monitors seems to have better specs at a lower price. Would I only buy the TV if I need the tuner? If I'm going to be using a computer or DTV box, is there a need to do so?

The TV will have the built-in tuner & speakers and include a remote - I'd go with the TV for the sight bump in price. Just be sure it's 1080p!

at 23" you dont need 1080P, 720P is fine for video
My stance is 1080P once you go higher than 32", 32" can go either way 720 or 1080

I agree. Both my TVs at home are 32" and I didn't bother paying a premium for 1080. I'm very happy with my 720p. |

you'd have a hard time even finding a 23 inch tv that does 1080p.

Oh I thought he was using it as a monitor as well. For video you don't need 1080 but if you're plugging it into a computer as well then 1080 is the way to go. 22-24" TVs at 1080p are not that hard to find & are usually around $250 or so.

Just make sure the TV has a VGA input. I recently ordered a 42" and 52" for my company and was surprised how many didnt include one.
if the PC has a DVI out, there are cheap DVI to HDMI adapters |

Even then you'd be OK with 720 - you'll want to go higher only if you were planning on actully using it as a montor for surfing or office stuff. But video from any source will be good at 720. |
