i networked my laptop and my desktop, with all necessary protocols installed [ win2k ].... when i created a game with one computer, the other is unable to join...it's the same the other way around.....the game "x .... 1/8" shows up...but it's just wont connect....the error msg reads: "Unable to Join game"... what's wrong???
i was able to do LAN games in starcraft when i had win98 on my desktop and win2k on my laptop...now that i have win2k on both, is there some sort of protocol conflict? i have a static ip address on my desktop and laptop...am i supposed to create a static ip addy on my WAN driver? or my actual networkcard? Thanks for the help....

Can the machines see each other in Network Neighborhood? Are you using any protocol other than IP?
What are the IP settings you're using on each machine (IP, subnet mack & gateway)? |

Do you have different copies of the game installed on those computers? I mean as in different cd keys. Try installing a Spawn copy of the game in one computer and use that spawned copy to join the game created in the other comp. Make sure they're installed from the same CD.
