OK... so.. i found out that my PC was freezing because of IRQ issues...
this first happened in WIN ME... then I upgraded to WIN 2K... and it all got fixed.. until the OS just crashed on me... I FDISKED and Reinstalled WIN 2K ... but it started to freeze again... so.. I FDISKED and installed 98 SE... when I realized that I love ME.. cause it has better features!! So.. i upgraded to ME.. and the computer started to freeze.... what I did was... I disabled the audio from the BIOS... FDISKED one more time.. and installed ME again.. everything went PERFECT... i hesitated to install the audio again.. and when I tried to burn a CD.. it crashed... I finally said SCREW IT.. and I changed the ONLY CARD in my PC.. the NIC.. and BAM!! no more freezing!! seemed like I had a faulty NIC right? So.. i enable audio... and i don't have drivers... every time I made the audio work.. i would use the drivers for the VA6 MOBO... and it would work FINE... but not this time..... I installed the drivers.. and when the PC rebooted.. it would crash the OS.. so i went in in safe mode.. and took everything out.. booted fine.. then I tried to get the actual drivers.. for the ECS K7VZA ... turns out .. after about on ehour searching.. i found a site with their audio drivers.. I downloaded them... turns out to be an Avance AC 97 audio for VIA (R)..... so.. instead of installing the drivers... i accidentally choose WINDOWS UPDATE... it finds the drivers and installs them fine... i reboot.. the audio comes up as MUTE.. so I unmute... and plug in the speakers... BUT NO AUDIO!!! So.. i check my settings.. make sure everything is turned up... test again... but nothing.. I installed WINAMP.. and played some MP3's... winamp works fine.. the mp3 plays fine in winamp.. get no errors.. but no audio comes out! so i thought it might be the speakers.. i plugged in a MIC.. and talked into the mic.. comes out fine in the speakers.... plugged in a headphone.. and no audio comes out of that either... any ideas?? suggestions??? i'm not going to spend any money on anything else.. and I know these MOBOS are crap.... |

ok
i found out it isn't a driver issue.. screwing around.. i just happened to decide to boost the MIC BOOST option in the volume control... and BAM.. i heard a faint noise from the speakers! so.. i upped the volume to the max.. and i hear something.. but very faint when I mute the MIC.. it goes away.. when I mute the WAVE.. it goes away.. and when I unclick the MIC BOOST in advance.. it goes away. the speaker is plugged into the right place in the mobo.. any suggestions? Look for a deal on a cheap sound card. Cheap audio is better than no audio.
