photoshop freeze

Jeez, i think this happens just because my computer sucks a$$ but i'm sure theres someway to fix it..
i first upgraded to the PS 6.0 beta and that was fun but it froze sometimes when i resized big things. So then I got the real version of 6.0 and now whenever I resize something big my computer just stops dead in it's tracks, it doesnt even try, just stops. Previous versions I have had ran fine on my comp. whats wrong?? Is it just my comp is too sucky? i have a P3 450mHz with 384 ram total... ??? i dont know...help?? thanx

PS6 likes and recommends that you use 2 separate drives, one for program files and one as a scratch disk. I don't know if this would couse your machine to just "freeze" However, I know it does slow PS6 a lot of you don't have 2 drives. I would check how much ram is allocated to PS6 thru the Preferences. I know the default is set at 50%. Also, how big of an image are you trying to resize? It may be freezing because of PS6 is a memory hog (because of the added features such as vector based text and what not) and you're running out of ram.
You should know that PS6 runs much slower than PS5.5 and earlier versions so I would reserver PS6 for machines that are at least a P3-500 with 512mb of ram when dealing with large files. If I were you, I'd just use PS5.5 for your typical photo editing. Specially if you don't really use the advanced features P6 offers. Its not worth the upgrade, since PS7 is coming out soon.

We had a similar problem when we upgraded from 5.5 to 6 -

Any machine running less that 512MB would just choke on the same images that ran fine under 5.5. Most people ended up going back to 5.5.

I am a big question sign now??????
Iīve been using PS6 (with the 6.01 update) for a long time now.
I canīt even recognize the problem disgussed here.

How big images are we talking about, since I am doing images 256MB and up with noo problems.

My comp: P3 500@667, 66 GB HDspace, TNT 16MB (Lovely colors!), 256MB RAM and PS6 usage set at 70%
