Unhappy Help!!!!

For the last little while i've been having problems with my comp not starting when i hit the power button.

Doesn't even make it to the boot screen.

Usually it'll click the second time i hit power....but today....nothing.

I'm still learning this stuff.

Anyone know what my problem is & how i should fix it?

AMD Duron 700 just incase anyone is wondering.

Thanks.

my guess would be that your power supply is the problem. how many watts is your power supply? For AMD you need at least 300watts

that would make sense considering the comp was custom built(not by me).

I'm not sure how many watts it is.

Is that the only possible problem??

I would try a better power supply, if it doesn't help you can return it but i'm pretty sure that'll fix it.

My system (AMD 1G Tbird, ABIT KT7A-Raid) did this for quite a while. After it had been running a while then shut down, it wouldn't restart for a number of hours. Often I could get it going by holding the power switch in for 5 seconds, release for 1 second, press for 1 second, then release. If that didn't work after a few tries, I could always get it going by opening my case up and blowing a fan into the case for a few minutes.

I recently updated my system from a 300W to a 400W power supply, and this seems to have taken care of that problem. I'm running 3 hard drives, CDROM, CDRW, 2 network cards, sound, video, 3 extra fans on the power supply.

This one wasn't even running on wednesday. It only happens when i try to power it up after it's been shut down. Usually overnight.

It would usually start up on the second try....but this time it didn't....and hasn't since. i've tried it dozens of times....even tried your trick....no dice.
