XP, Premiere and exporting

I have premiere 6.02 loaded on XP pro and it runs beautifully except for one major problem. I can't export video to a media file. I have no problems exporting back to my dv cam or to a vcr deck, but for the love of allah I can't get it to export into a video file such as quicktime or mpeg4. Anyhow, anyone have any clues? My only guess is adobe and xp no likey each other but its pissing me off. When I do try to export, it'll finish and I play the file. . . its a black screen but with the sound.

you have the codecs for those file formats? You need the encoders in order to save them in those file formats.

Yeah I got the codecs for the file formats. . . hell I can't even export it into an edited dv avi file that premiere uses to capture my dv footage. . . Looks like I might have to look for another program or something.

File > Export Timeline > Movie

And to export as a quicktime, you gotta type in .mov to save it as a quicktime when you're exporting and makesure you select quicktime as the codec.

isn't mpeg4 an .avi file anyways? so that should be fine, just use Divx/Mpeg4 as the codec. if you want a mpg extention, that's only mpeg1 and mpeg2.

hope it helps?

. . . thanks but my problem is not finding out how to export, the problem is after its done compliling, theres nothing on the screen, just sound. I'm pretty sure now its a problem with XP and premiere. Anyhow I probably gonna start using uleads program or . . . just get a g4 and use final cut pro.
