Please help! I am trying to access my DvD-Rom and CD burner drives but they're not displayed in the Windows Explorer. I checked the device manager and they are both giving me the same error: "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"
I am sure you can see where this becomes a problem. ![]() ..BTW, I checked the ever-so helpful Tech Support section of XP, and it says to contact the manufacturer. ![]() Please give me any advice you got. ThnX

swap out the cables. Also, try one drive solo, then the other, as one of them could be bad and screwing up both drives on the IDE port.

Try running this registry patch: cdgone.zip. Details on this can be found at http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcdz.htm#problems. Be sure to read the readme file first. You might need to reinstall your CD-R software after running it.
As always you should make backups before you edit the registry unless you are reeeeeeeeeally sure of what you are doing. ![]()
