What is "Client"
I recently installed Windows XP Pro on my computer and am having problems during bootup. The computer boots up fine, except during the bootup, I get a "client" box in the task bar and it sits there for about 30 seconds before I can start anything. If I try to start anything, it just ignores me until the "client" box closes, then everything runs great. I don't have that much stuff installed yet so I have no idea what the heck "Client" is. Anybody have any ideas that I might try?

Hmmm, doesn't sound like anyting that XP does by default. Check the
Startup folder in the Start|All Programs area. IF not, check the Run and Runonce entries in your registry to see what's loading.

Client problem
Seems like the problem is related to a second hard drive that I have on the computer. I took the extra hard drive out and the client box pops up during boot up but only for an instant. I am going to format that second drive and reinstall it and see if the problem continues. There is another Windows XP on that drive and it appears it is conflicting with the one on my master drive. Don't really need that second install now.

It is something strange. I removed the second hard drive and still had the same Client message. Tracked the Client message to a spam email program that I run at startup. I tried not starting the program and the Client box went away in the task bar but the computer still "hangs" for about 30 seconds after Windows XP is up. Windows boots in a hurry but won't let me do anything until it gets done with whatever it is hanging on. It acts like it is trying to time out while trying to access something. I will keep plugging away until I find out what that something is.

Did you check the RUN and RUNONCE keys in your registry?

Download Spybot and Adaware, install them, and RUN THEM BOTH.
