sound on old skool games (configuring IRQ, DMA and ports)
Remember how back in the day, you needed to know what port and IRQ your SoundBlaster was using in order to run the game with sound? Well, I'm running Secret of Monkey Island on my WinXP box, just for fun. The game has a hardware config file that looks like this:
Code:
looking sys. info on my machine, i found that the CreativeSB128 is using IRQ 22. However, what port do I use? Also, do you need to have it use gmidi for music? If so, how do I find what port the sound card is using for the midi? BTW, i have an onboard sound (Gigabyte 8iEXP mobo) thanks, daUnit |

can't you just go into device manager and check what irq your sound board is using?
and then change it in the config for your game Last edited by raimin : 05-05-2003 at 11:27 AM. |
