Loud Laptop Fan
I just got a Compaq Presario 2100. It runs great, but the fan runs really loud. It is kind of annoying how loud it is.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix it? Thanks! |

uhm. . . not much really you can do about it since the laptop needs it to stay cool. Perhpas purchasing one of these would make a difference. http://www.roadtools.com/
Podium coolpad. I use one for my 12" alpb and it makes some difference since air can circulate under it. Lets the aluminum cool fast and I almost never hear the fan go on. Also it puts the screen and keyboard at a nice angle. Well worth the $30. |

Thanks spigidygak! Ok, so this is a late response...
Anyway, my friend has one of these and I tried it out, but it didn't work at all. For whatever reason, my fan runs constantly with no breaks. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks! |

Depends on what you are doing, but you could try lifting the back of the laptop off the desk a little bit to allow for more circulation under it. If you are playing games most likey the fan will always be on. Check the temp of the CPU and try to figure out when it is coming on at.

Try adjusting the fan settings in your BIOS. I have a presario 2800 and I can make the fan run always or set it on automatic. Doubt it's going to do too much since once the laptop gets warm, the fans just blasts.

Actually, blow some air into that thing. Chances are, the fan is gunked up with dust like a mofo, hence both the noise and over heating.

That sounds like the trick, but it also sounds hard. Is this easy to do? I am going to look up how this is done now. Thanks! |
