Norton Ghost 2002

Here's my situation. My 10gb hard drive (system drive with system files and all my programs) has been making clicking noises and has been louder than normal. This has led me to believe that it's going to die soon. I have a 15gb hard drive that I would like to use as my new system hard drive.

I installed norton ghost last night and used the disk to disk copy tool. After it was finished, i hooked up the 15gb to the primary ide and tried booting up into it. I received the error that it wasn't a bootable system disk.

Does anyone know if i did something wrong? Is there an easier way to copy the entire hard drive to another hard drive and have it maintain its bootable status?

Hi ray,

Which method did you use to copy the 10 gig over to the 15 gig?

Also I have gotten that nasty clicking noise before too, and this is what worked for me. I took out the IDE cable completly and inspected it, my first one was gimp so i through it away. Well a month later clicking came back. I just completely undid the IDE cable and then rehooked it back up makeing sure it was secure on the board and on the drive. Also disconnect and reconnect the molex connector. This may not solve your problem but it fixes mine because this usually happens after I have been to a LAN party or after I have moved my computer any distance in the car. good luck.

Thanks for the input guys.

I had unplugged the original drive completely and the only ide device was the new hard drive.

DF, i'm going to follow the instructions that you linked for me. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!
