Does anyone know if they (the copy right activists) have shut down kazaa yet? Because all of my song downloads are either all squelched out or play only the first 20 seconds of the song.

The music industry will mess with the songs, and then share them. They will either cut bits and pieces of the song out, loop the song so its the same verse over and over again, or even leave messages in them. To my knowledge, Kazaa is still up and running.

What they do is...since it's not illegal to download the music (providing you own the cd), the music industry sets up kazaa users sharing new, popular songs, but they are looped or contain beeps...the easiest way around this is to download the version of the song that has a 192 bitrate and avoid the 128 bitrate songs at all costs, as it's very rare for the 192 bitrates to be looped or fake versions of songs, I think I've only gotten one or two messed up 192 bitrate songs. Another option you might want to look into is getting WinMX or Soulseek to get the newer songs, they rarely have loops on those servers.
