Feel free to correct me if I am wrong guys but I think that all of the stuff that is in the startup section of msconfig is extra stuff that can be turned off if you want. I dont think any of the stuff that windows requires to run can be turned off from there. I have no idea what that snoop thing is but if it were me I would just turn it off and see what happens. You can always turn it on later if you decide you need it.

Cool

I think you'll need to keep at least two things, Explorer and Systray. That's all I have on in my system, turn everything else off.

I think 77% free is pretty standard. Are you having trouble with it freezing up or something?

Cool

Never seen such a problem before, even in other people's computer whom had most of their startup carp turned off. You can always turn those startups back on, or you can try to reinstall Win98 to get that stupid .dll thing back into the computer.

I think you should probably run system file checker next. It will go check all of your important win 98 files to see if they have been damaged or changed. Just put your 98 cd in and go to start menu > Run and type it sfc.

If the error is only happening with IE running, It might be a reinstall of IE not of Win 98. You can always search for the *.dll error you are getting at Microsoft's support page... most of the time it is a known issue.

Definately run system file checker.

Also was having Ill op errors reciently and I updated windows98 (you know the annoying auto windows update messages)and it stopped.

Good luck : )
