i can't paste in explorer for some reason. I can copy perfectly fine when i look at the clipboard. whether i do a control-c control-v or right click mouse button copy then paste the paste will not work. I can paste oddly enuf in another type of explorer shell like acdsee but not in explorer. any suggestions?

Reinstall Windows. The two things that have fixed most of the problems I've created are restarting (often works), and reinstalling Windows. (I once changed the way that Netscape downloaded .exe files, and it changed the way that Windows dealt with them too. Ouch.)

hmmm... wierd... doea cut and copy SHORTCUT work?

does paste work in dos apps that use only shift-ins?

if you formated and reinstalled and still that why then possible problems are there is something BIOS that disables it but never heard of something like that. another thing that might be true is that something in memory is diabling it.. do a virus scan to make sure there is no TSR virus that is disabling it... other then that i really can't think of much else that can prevent you from pasting.

When did this start happening? and does manual paste work - Edit/paste?

You mention using other shells.. maybe you should check MS tech help for conflicts and stuff.
