Two Questions: I don't get any sound out of Winamp on Win2K or MediaPlayer but I do off of my CDrom. When I start winamp it will play at a low level for a few seconds but when I try and turn the volume up it shuts off and I can't get it back until I reboot. I have an MX 300 sound card and I checked Win2K compatability and it said it was supported. What's wrong??? My other question is that my floppy drive still doesn't work and I was wondering if I should break the whole system back down and rebuild it to see if I skipped anything. It's not the drive or the connector and I hope it's not the mobo(hopefully human error-good chance). Thanks for any info

i really don't know what else to tell you - check for the latest drivers for all components involved, check internal connections. best of luck!

I haven't had any problems with my floppy drive in win2000. However I have problems with sound from my SBLive X-Gamer. The music from the cd-rom lately is distorted. Wav files are super loud compared to other files (like midi). First go to volume control and adjust your settings. Start menu-->Programs-->Accessories-->Entertainment-->Volume Control Also do windows update for the latst patches from Micro$oft. Aureal has beta win2000 drivers out. Aureal drivers download sites: Aureal download site Vortex of Sound both these sites have faq's. So look around. Unfortunately Aureal is very unlikely to ever get back on its feet now going by what Avault just recently revealed in a news item. ![]() |
