You might want to uninstall whatever that program is that you installed to remove ads. Other than that you probably screwed up windows.

I am running Win98. I ran a freeware program that is designed to remove adware type of programs that piggyback shareware programs such as GoZilla.
Upon running that program, I found my GoZilla wouldn't work. So I uninstalled that (using Norton Utilities). Still I could not return to the regular windows method of downloading. So I reinstalled GoZilla (lucky for me I had burned it on a CD!) I thought that would fix it up fine, but now it will sometimes download a link & other times not. I thought perhaps it was just the server I was attempting to download off, but I immediately used my laptop to connect to the exact same site (link from c-net) to download the same file & it worked. The symptoms are that GoZilla starts up fine, says its connecting & stays in that state perpetually. I suppose I should go ask GoZilla for help, but actually I wouldn't mind getting rid of it altogether. Maybe I should just reinstall Windows! Got any pointers? |
