help! i need free web-hosting

hey guys, i didn't know which area to post this thread, but i guess tech. support would be closest. anyways, does anyone know of the best places to get free web hosting? I know of angelfire and geocities, but they don't really give that much bandwidth. anyone know of better alternatives? I actually need online server space to store files that can be accessible by the internet; i don't plan on building a website or anything. I wouldn't need too much space either, probably anything more than 30 megs. please help, thanks!

tripod gives you a decent amount of space and bandwidth. i think you get a gig a month or something like that. dont quote me on that. however, you can only upload certain types of files. exe and mp3's are a no no there apparantely

hmm,. yeah, that may be fine...what i need this space for is to store some of my documents and presentations for my interactive resume. basically, i want to make it so that when i email a resume out, the company can open it in word or acrobat and click on links on my resume which will let them download and see for themselves the presentations, research papers, and other stuff i talk about on my resume. its kinda like a portfolio, i guess. so i don't have any .exe's or anything, just a lot of .doc's and .ppt's, maybe some images too. as you can see, i wouldn't need much space or bandwidth. the problem with geocities though is that you can upload files no larger than 1 meg, and some of my powerpoint presentations are a lot bigger. i need to be able to ftp files to my server space which are up to 5 megs in size, not too big but decent sized. phew, now that i've specified my exact problem, what do you guys think? is tripod still good for that stuff? anyways, this is why i'd need a simple free hosting site - actually, i just need the server space...and it would be more convenient to use something like geocities instead of bothering people to use their personal servers.

have you thought about converting your powerpoints to pdf files? they would be smaller and people couldn't jack around with your files either.

Personally for FREE web hosting, I usually recommend www.netfirms.com

They just work with a small "ad banner" at the top of your site.
