Erasing Hard Drive for Recycling PC
Howdy-
i need to erase the hard drive of a pc so that i can recycle it - here in Los Angeles. I know this has been discussed before, but I can't find the thread. what software do I use to erase everything on my pC? and if someone knows of a pc recycling place in LA that would be a big help. |

If you are serious about being sure that any personal information can't be recovered from the computer, forget the "format c:" suggestion, unless it is just the first step. I would suggest:
1) Reformat (to be sure of getting rid of personal data in the registry, etc.) 2) Re-install basic OS (as long as you are giving up the license) 3) Run a wipe utility as suggested in this thread: http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67760 (erasing contents on harddrive forever.)
