Static Speakers?

well lately my speakers are recieving static for unknown reason. It goes about 1/3 of the music and its starts to static for a while.

anyone know whats wrong?

or are my speakers getting old

What kind of speakers are they and the static happens for all kinds of audio files?

There are Creative Lab speakers with 5.1. and Yes it happens with all kinds of audio files.

Loose connection somewhere or a short? Perhaps some sort of interference- speaker wire parrellel to a power cord somewhere? Sound card?

Are you absolutely positive it's the speakers and not the sound files? I get bad rips all the time from Audiocatalyst.

Nope its not the sound files...But my guess is it can also be my soundcard. or something is interfering with it.

if it's your soundcard, then plugging headphones in will yield the same result. Try that.

Try cleaning all the connections and the knobs.
Something as simple as dust can cause this.

Have your speakers been moved close to the monitor or did you install any electrical appliances near your sound system? That can cause static noise.

Turn off your cell phone and put it away. My cellphone was causing MAD static with my z680 speakers, i thought they were defective until i found out that whenever i walk away static also goes away.
