Losing wireless connection

I'm having this problem whenever I turn on my laptop it doesn't find my home wireless connection. It says that connection cannot be found. I took it to my cousins house who has wireless connection and he can connect easily. At my house I can barely connect and when I do, I have a very low Sent and Recieved. Can someone help me solve this problem. Can it be my wireless connection set up at home? or does it have something to do with my wireless network card thats on my lapton.

Do you have alot of 2.4 Ghz interference at your place? Celluar & Cordless telephones or microwaves?

How far away from the router are you at home? Do you get the low connection when standing right next to the router? Or is this only happening when you are further away (possibly with several walls/floors separating your laptop and the router)

Do you have your WIFI access list set? Is encryption set?

Finally... Linksys does offer "signal boost" antennas to increase your signal strength if that turns out to be the problem... go to your local Radio Shack to get hooked up with one if you need it.

The laptop is a Dell laptop. I'm picking it up from my cousins house later so hopefully it works without any glitches.

Try a high gain antenna, or a high gain directional antenna. Those items can be found on ebay for relatively less. Linksis router's standard gain is about 5dbi, directional antenna can improve your singal strength by directing them at one direction.

Or just get another router, it could be the router not broadcasting enough packets due to internal errors... who knows, computer stuff never last long.
