Norton Internet Security won't reinstall

Just installed a new Seagate 160G HD and cloned the old HD over to the new. Everything worked fine except Norton Antivirus. The icons were there but it wouldn't work. Decided to uninstall and reinstall. Kept getting error messages which I researched on their support site and took care of all the specific errors. I removed the files they suggestted from the registry, emptied the temp folder and recycle bin, downloaded and ran the MS installer fix and it still won't install. Now when I try and reinstall it starts the process then tell me "setup error, NIS pro installation failed, do you want to try again?" When I retry I get the same message. If I cancel it starts installing again for a few seconds and then I get the message "setup error-Installation encountered an error and is unable to complete installation" I've been fiddling with this for 3 days now. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Dave

Thanks zippyjuan. I have done everything they said to do at that link at least twice already. Their tech help says running the MS installer program will fix everything but it didn't. I'm waiting now for them to get back to me with what else to try. This is driving me up the wall...

It has been a while since I encountered this, but since Norton connects to the computer in so many ways, it is very hard to get it all cleaned out so you can reinstall it again. It will give some message about previous version installed. They used to have a program on their site you could download to help clean them all out without doing is all manually. I had to do that once. I was just looking quickly at their site and have not found it yet if they still have it. Perhaps the tech people will be able to help you if you cannot find it. Good luck!
