fussy sony laptop, please help
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hey all, i bought my sony v505BX laptop at the end of july in 2003 and its fried now. the warrantly expired and stuff so its all on me to fix it. i'd like some help guessing what is wrong with it. first, a little history. last may it just stopped working and i wasnt able to turn it back on. i was under warranty, sent it in and they said there was a problem with a bracket or something. about 4 weeks ago it kept crashing. i would restore it with the recovery disks but it would just crash again. so i bought a new hardrive and it worked fine until about a week ago. now, whenever i turn it on the screen doesnt show anything which led me to belive some wires may have been fried or out of place somehow, but when i listen to it boot up it doesnt sound like its processing anything at all. that makes me think the motherboard is fried. i dont have the tech expertise to install a new laptop motherboard so ill either have to send it in and get charged a ton of $ or sell it i guess. anyone have any suggestions? |

If the battery is dead sometimes the entire unit will refuse to boot until the dead battery is replaced. If the battery is cheap then my guess would be try another one. I don't see how you can fry a laptop that easily, it's not like you OC or anything. Another advice, if you're getting another one, get an IBM thinkpad. Those things are sturdy and sweeet.
