device manager recognizes new hard drive, but My Computer doesn't
i've checked the drive's properties through the device manager, and not only does device manager recognize the drive, it tells me it's working properly. so how come when i click on My Computer, i don't see the extra hard drive?

Is it formatted? Click on Disk Management and see if it is in there. If it is, go ahead an format it in there and see if you have the same problem afterward.

I have seen XP recognize a drive that wasn't even enabled in the BIOS. So, have you enable that IDE channel from your BIOS?

actually, i think i got it.
it didn't occur to me that the hdd wasn't formatted. so i did what esdee recommended (i found Disk Management; it's been a looong time since i went in there ). anyway, it's formatting right now, so hopefully everything will be fine when it's done... |
