My dvd drive won't read a homemade dvd

Ok, so for last Christmas, I had the idea of making a dvd for my parents of Josh. Basically a slideshow of pictures set to music.

I didn't plan on doing it until I was messing around with Windows Movie Maker one day when I was bored, so that's what I ended up making it with. It turned out quite well.

But my mom wants it made into an mpg so she can put it on her computer at school.

My dvd drive won't read the disc. Scott's laptop does... Why?

Also, (& will post this in the software forum, too, but might as well ask here as well), it might just be easier to start from scratch and do it as an mpg. But what program would be good?

TIA.

See if there is a firmware update for your drive.

Some drives are just going to have difficulty reading certain discs. A firmware update might have data to help the drive read the brand of disk you have.
Was the disc written in a format your drive supports?
