H@lp PC not booting UP but making high pitch noise from PSU

So I built this new pc and when I plug the power supply in, I get this high pitch noise from the power supply. I dont think so I have a problem with the motherboard because I just exchanged this for another one and I still have the problem. I have another power supply and I checked it with that.. ITs still making the high pitch noise. The computer is not turning on at all. Just a high pitch noise from either power supply when I turn the switch on the back of my PSU...

I have never experienced this kind of problem and its really weird...

I unplugged everything and only had the 24pin plugged in and I get that high pitch noise.. I thought I had a defective mobo and I got a new one but I still am facing that problem.

First things first...

Are you sure that your mobo is properly grounded on the posts?

If so... then I'd start checking to make sure of the following:

1) Remove all of your peripheral cards.... and try to power up? (Leave only the Video card, memory, CPU, and hard drive attached.) Does it still make the noise? If so...

2) Make sure that your video card, memory and CPU are properly seated in their slots. They could become loose during the installation process and might not be making a full connection. Does it still make the noise? If so...

3) Check to make sure you don't have any frayed wires in your case... that could be causing this. Look at your fans, drive wires, and power cables. Be sure to recheck your switch/power connectors to make sure that they are properly installed. Ch

Good luck on getting it working... I know it can be frustrating.

I removed all the parts (tried it with and without cpu) and I just had the Powersupply 24pin connected to the mobo. As soon as I turn the Powersupply switch on (not the pc on) it makes a high pitch noise..

I removed the mobo from the case(no cpu and any other peripherals), placed it on top of a cardboard box and as soon as I plugged the power supply, I get this freakin high pitch noise from the PSU. I tried a different PSU and I am not sure on what the freakin problem is. Also tried the same model but different mobo and I dont know what the problem is.

Did you try using a different power supply? Maybe your current one is bad.

I use a P/S tester in a case like this... but maybe if you have another P/S available you can test the theory.

EDIT: I see from your initial post that you've tried that already...

I'd suggest calling the mobo manufacturer now... sounds like this model mobo has a serious problem.

BTW.. do you have a UPS connected as well? If so, remove that and see if that changes things. Also... when you turn everything off... give the mobo a few mins to let all the capacitors release their charges... I'd say give it like 2 minutes before you hook it back up.

I got this Asus A8N-E.. I ordered one and I had this same problem.. Called Asus, they told me its got mobo dead. I RMA'ed it and got another one and it has the same exact problem. I ordered a PSU tester and a new power supply. The high pitch nosie never stops.. I lef tit running for 10 mins and that noise is really annoying...

i'd try a new power supply it sounds like a capacitor is fried - i know you have 2 - but try a 3rd - it soulds like it's sending bad power to mobo - thus frying it....

I have an ABIT mobo that was making a weird noise, I discovered it was a fan on the mobo which cools a chipset/ I touched it lightly and it went away.

Are you sure one of the cooling fans in the case is not the culprit?

I removed all the stuff from the PC... I just have the motherboard on a carboard box and I have the Powersupply connected to the 24pin and the ATX 12v. As soon as I turn the powersupplie's ON switch, The PSU starts emitting a high pitch noise.
Dont know what is the problem... Gonna get another PSU and try it out.. I tried it using 2 Ultra 500w X-connect PSU... Gonna get the OCZ powerstream and check it out... Such a weird problem

maybe that P/S just isn't compatible with that mobo...

That is strange though.

I am guessing that the Powersupply is not compatible with the motherboard.. But thats a really weird problem...

I had that happen when I tried connecting a standard ATX power supply to a Dell computer that had a blown PSU. Turns out the Dell PSU used the same connector, but the pin-out was different. High pitched whine ensued.

yeah I think its the PSU too.. Two brand new sealed motherboards cant go wrong... I ordered a PSU and should get it within a week... Hopefully that will solve the problem..

Ok Got a new PSU and it booted fine.. It posts but after that it freezes.. It's stuck in the Asus logo screen. I cleared CMOS, Asus support told me ram not compatible, I changed 6 different ddr ram's, stripped all the parts and it stuck at the asus logo screen like a ****er! Feel like killing myself
