cisco pci wireless lan adapter

hi i have a thinkpad that has a cisco pci 350 wireless lan and i was wondering if i could use wireless without using the aironet client utility and monitor and just use it like a regular wireless card by right clicking and "viewing available networks" rather than going through that utility and adding profiles. hopefully someone knows what im talking about. can i just remove the cisco software?
