Incomplete DL
I can't recall when it started to occur but I'm having difficult time to download files online, whether it's big or small, it just stops downloading in the middle of the process. This happens to all kinds of sites and while this happens, my internet connection is still good (no random router reboot). Sometimes I can download the file without any problem. What may cause this "bug"? Please help!!
I'm running AMD Athlon 64 3000+, MSI Neo4-Plat, 1GB Memory, 200GB SATA HDD, DLink DWL-G520 (PCI card) with DLink DI-624 (latest firmware), and WinXP SP2. |

Suspects in order of probability:
NIC Virus/Malware Memory PSU Easiest thing to try is to virus and malware scan. Make sure you update your virus definitions. Next, try a different network card. If you still have the problem, try removing 1/2 your memory (if you have 2 sticks). Then try it for a while. If it still happens, switch to the other memory stick. If you only have one stick of memory, borrow another one and swap it out. If it is still happening, try a beefier PSU. |

I'm using NOD32 as my anti-virus and it updates daily and scans weekly. No problem found. For mel-ware I use Spy Sweeper along with Ad-aware, no problem found. My PSU is OCZ 450watt. I think it's sufficient enough for my system (only 1 GeForce 6600 video card, 1 hdd, and 1 DVD-RW).
I'll double check my WIFI card. Thanks. |

I'd try running netstat from the cmd prompt while you're downloading something and see if anything interesting pops up (either a connection to another server while d/l or a server drop)...that may help you diagnose the problem too.
I'd even try another browser (if it's only happening, say, in IE and you don't have Firefox installed). Could be an IE problem. ![]() |

The problem occurs on both IE 6 and FF 1.5.
