Laptop Display flickered and then got dark

I can barely see what's on the screen. Is there a separate backlight I can purchase or can it be repaired? It's a three year old Toshiba 1115-s103.

I have it hooked up to an external monitor temporarily.

You can replace the backlight yourself if you're adventurous. You should be able to find one on ebay, but it may take a little searching to find the proper one.

Few resources to look at:

I bought a backlight over a month ago, never installed it.

Anyway, the electricity went out last night for about 9 hours. I turned the computer back on and now it is working. For how long I don't know. Weird!

Heh - I've actully 'fixed' backlights before by giving the machine a good whack on the side.

Don't tell anyone!

This afternoon it went dark again. I think it's the converter and not the backlight.
