Flower delivery

My mom has been feeling very down lately. I'd like to send her some flowers to perhaps put a smile on her face. Has anyone used anyone of the online flower delivery services before (FTD, ProFlowers, 1800flowers) and how have they turned out? Are they delivered nicely?

TIA,

Memo.

Another option, and might be cheaper, is to call a local florist in her town and order over the phone. Get an idea online of what you would like to order, etc.

I thought about that, and would prefer it. It's just I figured local small business owners don't usually take credit cards over the phone, do they?

a lot will. just depends on the florist. you may have to call around to a couple. I've done it this way before.

go local. 1-800-flowers, as i recall, sends the flowers in a box and the recepiant has to arrange them.

my family has always called local florists and placed the orders. Always useing credit card. I have seen recieved flowers from both nationwide services and local. The Local are aways way nicer.

By the way, I think this is a great thing you are wanting to do for your mom.

www.proflowers.com was very good for me, I sent my mom some last year and she still raves about that day. But that was largely because she doesn't have a good local place that I could find...given the choice, I'd go local.

Another vote for Proflowers. Burzhui had some delivered to my work for Valentine's Day and they stayed open and fresh for a very long time.

some of the national florists just contract with the local flower shops to deliver the product, so the quality depends on the local florist.

I concur. Had a few nice arrangements sent to NM and they all came out nice.

Local florists are the way to go. In my experience it pays HUGE dividends to stop in every now and then and chat them up giving the story to why you order. As you return the recognition will be there and they will really clue you in on what to get, what they are getting in, and they will give you killer deals. Most take credit card over the phone as well.
If you go online, I have also used 1800FLOWERS and was very pleased.
--Don't forget to include a nice card!
