We get the Costco "buy one get one free" full size candy bar packs every year. We normally have more than enough (72 bars)...leftovers make me happy.

We gave out full size bars a few years ago and the kids must have gotten the word out quickly because we got raided half an hour later by mobs and mobs of kids!

Oh, wait. I thought you said "WHY we are passing out on Haloween". In my place, there most likely won't be any kids by and I have to work anyways. I gusee that means I get to eat the candy!

You know, we normally keep a bowl of little things (like small Tootsie Rolls) for the really big kids, the ones who look to be 14 or so. When they come by, I either tell them they're too old (and get lost) or we give them a few of the little treats.

I haven't gotten any trick-or-treaters and really don't expect any. My apartment is above a garage that's separate from the house in front, I doubt anyone will come all the way down the dark driveway and march up the stairs to knock on my door. If I do get put on the spot though, I guess I'll have to hand out cans from the case of Blue Light that my father left here a while ago. There's no way the little maggots are getting my good beer, regardless of how cute they might be.

I tried to find some Kit Kats but safeway didn't have any yesterday, so I went with another favorite of mine - Reese's Cups. I bought 5 bags of them (about ~17/bag) and they were all gone by the end of the night. I only ate one.

We hand out all kinds. Last night, we handed out ghost suckers (suckers with the tissue over them) and smarties, kid mix type stuff (tootsie rolls, nerds, jaw breakers, milk duds, air heads). That kinda stuff we hand out by the handful. We also bought baby ruths, butterfingers, crunch bags and a reese's mix bag - we had just a little left by the end of the night. BUT I have kids that go out and bring some back

OH and we got a treat ourselves! One of the Generals on base and his wife came up to us and "awarded" us a $10 GC for the Italian restaurant on base for a great yard. I didn't get many good pictures -- mainly cuz my camera sucks at nite pictures and Audie wasn't there to take them, but you can see them here.

we had those bars from Costco.. which ran-out. There were many cute kids and we felt very sad, sending them empty handed. I gave away small toys I had, for the late-comers (they seemed pretty happy with the toys, rather than the candy) Anyhow.. need to stock up more next time! Lesson learned.

Do you live on base? Nellis AFB? That is some pretty nice military housing if it is.

Yes, Nellis. And it looks nice, but it is old. Full of asbestos and lead paint. Our stucco is falling off and the wood is rotting. But it is home for now Housing just went private here, and they broke ground today. We will see...

But housing off base is outragous for a single income family (or even a two income family!) so we will call it home for now and the next three years.

That's not dad if you are talking about the pumpkin carving.

That is Uncle TJ. He is Donnie's brother (Donnie being my husband ) He just finished 6 years in the AF himself and is here with us celebrating Halloween and Donnie's birthday today while he is unemployed.
