My cloth diapers are BLUE. I washed them like normal and they were fine when they came out of the washer, so I tossed them in the dryer and turned them on for 2 cycles, well I went to take them out and the are BLUE. Something was in my dryer and bleed all over my diapers we can't find the culprit. It also got on my sheets and pillow cases.
Is there anything that will take ink out. It does lighten slightly with a little alcohol poured on it and rubbed, but I have like 20 diapers and wipes in there, I also don't have that much alcohol on hand or that much time to sit and scrub every little spot and some of them are completly blue. Please help. Any advice so I can save these? ![]()

try Rit dye color remover. I am not sure if it will take out ink but it is probably your best shot. Wal-Mart $1.48 next to the laundry detergent

Sometimes laundry detergent over time will turn whites blue.
There maybe bluing agents in your bleach, fabric softener (though, I don't see you using that on diapers because that affects absorbancy), and detergents. You won't see "blueing agent" on the ingredient list. Most likely Optical brighteners, optical brightening agents, fluorescent brightening agents or fluorescent whitening agents will be listed or the chemical used. It happened to my diapers too after repeated washings. |

No these are like really dark blue, almost like someone took a marker to them. and as for what I wash them with normally I use Dawn Dishsoap, and Baking soda, No dryer sheets or fabric softener in the house.
I am willing to try anything no matter how heavily chemical it is to save them, then I will worry about getting them clean again. Most of my diapers are not white, I have yellow ones, green ones, spiderman, snoopy, cars, I have a lot of patterned ones I made myself. I can make more but I didnt want to do that until I needed the next size. I have them in the washer on cold right now with Oxiclean and a heavy dose of bleach. I am about half hour from a walmart, and I just got back from there. So I am trying bleach and oxiclean first, then I will put them in the dishwasher to see how much it helps remove the colors, I had some turn red from my wool covers and the dishwasher forced all the color out. It also removes all the extra build up without re soaking the diapers in the chemicals. |

*sigh*...hello? Did nobody hear me when I sang the praises of Fels Naptha Soap? It gets EVERYTHING OUT. That's why it's been around for 100 years. Spot treating with straight original Tide and washing two or three times will work too. It used to get pen out of my daughters winter coats when they forgot to take their school pens out before they went through the wash.
Mommy don't forget that soaking in bleach is a BAD thing to do..it eats the fibers of the material down to almost nothing if you leave it too long. And yes, Riverwidow is right too-Rit Color Remover works great...if you can't find the Fels Naptha in your area-I'd be THRILLED to mail you some. maybe u had some pen in your dryer? i had that happen once...exploded inside the dryer, I used nail polish remover to clean the dryer...left it open and didn't use it for a few days (i was afraid i'd explode since nail polish remover is flamable)
