:( my vacuum doesn't suck as much anymore

I have a Dirt Devil bagless vacuum, which has worked great up until a few months ago, and now it doesn't seem to suck as well as it used to! It works well enough with the carpet, but when I disconnect the hose to clean the bunny cage (those things shed a TON), it barely sucks up anything! Any suggestions on what to look at to improve the suction? I've cleaned out the filter thingy and made sure there's no clogs, but I'm at a loss on what else to look at. (We can't really afford to buy a new vacuum right now, so that's my last option).

Thanks!

Sell the Wii to me, and buy a new vacuum

Check the hose itself to make sure you don't have a clog of hair in there. Also check the hose part to see if there's a hole that may be affecting the suction. If you're cleaning up the carpet okay, then the problem is probably with the hose.

Usually if the motor sounds like it is still working right, it is a problem with blockage. Does the it sound different now? You might get better answers in Hardware or SS or maybe even off topic.

Id say replace it with a refurbed dyson. They suck for life and are the same price as a Wii.

I am actually a vacuum repairman (can you believe it?) been one for the last 6 mos. We don't do residential vacs because most of them are plastic holding hands instead of screws and bolts, but it does sound like you have classic "something is cloggin' the motor" itis. Best bet is to check this way: turn on vacuum with wand attached, then detach wand and cover intake with hand. If sound did not dramatically change from suction being compromised, you have clog-itis. It is usually in the gooseneck of the unit (base) or if you're lucky, in the hose. Stick a broom handle through the hose part to clear it out (make sure both sides disconnected first - haha) then tackle the base. Just follow the path of the dirt until you find where your sheddings have collected. Other culprits may include: loose belt, broken belt, cracked base (can cause major change in vacuum level) and motor wear and tear. Work your way towards the dirt and let me know.
Cheers
