is it better to water the garden in the morning or evening to get a better crop ?

some say its better in the morning - it allows for natural evaporation. it keeps the plants cool

they say that watering at night can lead to fungus/mushrooms - acidic soil. but because it's cooler at night, less evaporation occurs and more water stays at the roots.

I personally water at night - i use less water and water every other day. less evaporation - especially when its hot. i haven't had much problem with fungus...

the key is to water evenly -every 1-2 days -that will ensure a nice even crop. take tomatoes for example - the surest way to make them split on the vine is to not water them for 2-3 days then soak them. they get a rush of water to the fruits and *pop* they split.

I have heard very similar things. From what I have read, watering in the morning is the best but you should water very early (~5 am) so you have virtually no evaporation and give the plants plenty of time to soak up the water prior to the sun coming out.

Good advice. Evening or morning is a million times better than during the day, so compared to that either is good.

Yup... my meters are set for 4am and a long slow soak using microspray jets to mist the garden and grass.
