My poor kitty :(

We think something is seriously wrong with our kitty. He's about 3 years old. We adopted him from the shelter about a year after we moved to Wichita, when our oldest cat died. Over the course of the last week to week and a half, he's started wheezing a lot. Normally it's when he isn't active. We don't notice it really when he is active. He is eating & drinking ok we think. But his nose is dry and warm, and it should be, if I remember correctly, cool and damp.

Anyway, we had all 3 cats into the vet yesterday to get their yearly shots before we move up to OP and the 2 boys were so unhappy that neither of them would quit snarling, hissing and fighting with the vet long enough for her to listen to Mystery's chest. So she suggested bringing him back in to get sedated so she can listen and take some xrays.

My dad is a large-animal vet down in Oklahoma. So I talked to him and he suggested trying antibiotics first, cause it'll be over $100 to do the sedation & xrays, so if we can avoid it, great. So he's sending some meds to us and we'll try that. If he isn't any better by next Friday, we'll probably take him in to the vet to get the stuff done.

My poor baby! He's just sleeping behind the couch, which normally he doesn't do. So I can tell he's just plain not feeling well. We are hoping it isn't too serious, but it could be fluid on the lungs or around the heart, cancer or any number of other serious things. I'm so terrified.

When he was a baby:

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

My cat started wheezing over a year ago. She doesn't do it all of the time. Is it chronic or intermittent?

As much as I know how they're evil and hell-bent on world domination, I hope your kitty gets better.

mines 19, she's my first memory, and just had to have a toe amputated that they found out was cancerous. good thing is that she's still active and vibrant. but still, seeing her in the collar was about the worst thing ever

Each religion has got their own way of making you feel like a victim. The Christians say 'you are a sinner', and you better just zip up your trousers and give the money to the pope and we'll give you a room up in the hotel in the sky.

Sorry about your kitty Yoss.

On a good note, Mystery is all better! He started getting better Monday and I just forgot to post. lol We think maybe when Scott was cleaning the basement last weekend, he was down there and some of the stirred up crap from cleaning got into his lungs and irritated them and made him congested, which made him wheeze and stuff. So this weekend, Scott has kept the door to the basement closed while he cleans, hoping to spare any of the cats that problem this go round.
