Nosebleeds

Anyone ver have trouble with lots of nose bleeds??/ My sonis getting them frequently, and they dont stop they will bleed on and off for around 2-3 hrs. Bleed for about 20 min really heavy then stop. About 20 min later they will start up again, no cough or snezze of picking just sstart again. Getting concerned, taking hi to the doc on friday. Just wondering if someone has experienced a similar problem.

he's in minnesota, that isn't the issue right now.

If it's from a wound in the nose, those things are a pain to heal, and you can use vasoline on a qtip to help keep them covered up.

It could also be due to a bleeding disorder, like I have. Does he bruise easily? When he has bruises are they larger? Does he not always know how he got them? Is he on any medication that is known to lower clotting? Has he been exposed to mouse poison?

The problem with bleeding disorders is they can be a pain to discover if, like what I have, they are affected by things like stress. My doctor hadn't even heard of von Wilibrands.

Two of my sons have the same problem. The oldest one seems to have outgrown it but my 12 yr old still gets them. You can get glycerin oil and put some on the inside of their nose with a Qtip if its just from dryness like theirs is. But it wouldnt hurt to get him checked out anyways. My 12 yr old had a nosebleed that was real heavy for about 45 minutes. Took him to emerg but by the time they finally saw him, an hour later, it had stopped. But they knew how bad it was from the admissions desk. They didnt do anything for him and by then he was exhausted so we just went home. He still gets them sometimes but none as bad as that.

VWF! Personally, I've always gotten better staining results from using CD31 as my immunohistological marker for vasculature.

(sorry, lab geek here)
