ugh... does 'Kim Ya" mean fish in Thai???

So, I thought I'd be clever with dinner tonight. Found some curry mix in the store, figured I'd throw in chicken & potatoes, and voila, yellow curry, just like at our favorite Thai restaurant!

WRONG!! Just before it was done, I tasted it... and then promptly almost threw up, as I realized it tasted like curry... and fish. Lots and lots of fish. And that funny smell that I couldn't quite identify that was now engulfing the kitchen? fish! So I checked the ingredients of the curry powder, and sure enough... it includes fish powder!

To explain a bit more - I hate seafood, passionately, and fish scents & tastes in particular. But I've never heard of a fish curry, so it didn't actually occur to me to check!

ugh, I think I'm going to be sick...

Moral of the story - pay attention to the ingredients list BEFORE you cook it.

I with you on the fish hatred. That's a major bummer.

Poor girl. That sucks. Hope you had a good meal and avoid the fish at all costs...

Mmm sushi.

Mmm sushi.

we ate frozen taquitos (well, cooked, but I didn't make them from scratch), and my husband ragged me the entire time about my lack of cooking skills. Now he's cooking tomorrow, hehehe...

on the up point, between tons of candles & fans, I think I finally got rid of the smell, yay!

I love curry - I also hate fish

I usually buy a brand S&B medium.
