food forum or sub forum

i see a lot of food related post are mixed in this forum .
and i like to see what others are seeing to.
i know i like to see them in there own area. just becouse im lazy and hate searching for a post with info i want to read or use .that i remember about .maybe not the title but it hits me from time to time ya thats the thread when when i see it doing a page or 2 back search.
so im putting up this poll and asking others how they feel.
if G/A wants or wants not to so be it .

I'm with obby. I think a forum specific to food would be quite interesting. Might even bring those who like to just post/trade different recipes. Hmmm...mouths already watering.

Would there be enough new posts for another topic? Softer Side does not seeem to get that many posts compared to what it used to anyways. Combining Softer Side with OT might be OK- it is sometimes hard to decide what to put where.

So where would folks go for their "relationship", "cleaning", and "homemaking" advice if the Softer side went away?

Cooking if created should only be a "sub forum", if you REALLY need one. No need for the softer side to merge with OT... OT is already a big mashed pile of stuff as it is.

Why don't we just put a foods subforum in the softer side forum (kinda like how the politics forum is inside the off topic forum.

I'm against combining SS and OT. I come to SS specifically for female advice. I know most of the regular OT crew is in here but it's almost a completely different set of rules in the Softer Side, compared to OT. I expect a lot more from the responses in SS. In Off Topic you get usually 1 to 3 good answers. In SS almost every reply is a good answer. We (and by we I mean males, specifically myself) come here for stereotypical female advice: Should I do this for my wife/girlfriend/GILF? Does anyone have a recipe for XXX? Why do I dress like a moron, HALP! All things that I would be ridiculed for asking in OT, the Softer Side will give be honest good answers that I can easily apply without giving up the manliness we so dearly covet.

I love cooking. I wish we could fill a forum up with recipes of every variety, however I just don't think would be worth the extra effort of creating a separate section. We could petition to have it added to the header information of the SS forum, and I think that's reasonable, but anything other than that, I feel is asking too much.

hmph..OT and SS are so much alike that they may as well be one forum. I have to disagree you..the fact that you're looking for good honest answers shouldn't make a difference..is there really THAT many of us posting anymore that insults would become an everyday occurance in OT..well with the exception of Johnnymk and that's only because he's a cranky old dodger. I'm tellin ya Nija (who sounds like a MOD)..a food/cooking/forum would be a hit. Look at the posts that get more replies lately-yep..all about food. And what manliness..all you married guys are sounding pretty whipped lately! lol

Like in the other thread, I fully support combining OT and SS.

Ninja, perhaps you can preface the subject of your posts with SS when you want a more SS response

i say keep ss and ot forum apart. i find ss to be more civilized and the discourse more at helping and less joking while the ot is more joking and less helping.

as for the sub forum for cooking branching off of either ss or ot. either one will work. but i don't think it needs it's own topic forum.

here is my thoughts as to why i started this thread . its 3 fold - first was to get active members imput .(getting it and thanks )
the second was to see if any one would feel like me that a food forum might just bring in new life (fresh blood ) into G /A bbs . and i feel that SS and ot are kind of a mixed bag . that would be better together or a sub of the other !
all bbs are different and G/A no diffrent in this respect .but i have to say its one of the better forum i do belong to .as showing respect for others
an i do post a lot in hot deals . there a sub forum there that seems to get a lot of calif members that only. come to talk about radio and tv stations there that have some contests that the rest of us could careless about. sure seems to me that it be nice if they join in on other G/A forums and a food thead might just do that .

and yes reno knows his use of the English language sucks.

Me, a mod? Obby has gone senile! I offered to be one when the politics forum got turned off, but GAM respectfully declined.

I figure we are just going through a lull right now. Boards are pretty quiet (I don't know anything about the Deals forum though, so I speak only of the "smaller" forums). I think cooking fits in with the Softer Side approach. While SS doesn't have the heavy dose of estrogen it once had (I do remember . threads... *shudder*), it's still serves a purpose.

If GAM decided to open a separate cooking forum, I'd be all over it, like Obby cooking! Remember though, GAM is usually pretty hesitant to create new forums (remember how long, and how many fights had to spill over for the Political Forums to get made).

Just my opinion.

And although I support the ninja in their fight against the ruling pirates, My "name" is NOT Ninja.

BOOOO HIISSSS to you and cheapie..I vote to combine! Not that my vote matters-and if you haven't noticed, the Political forum isn't really like it was in it's heyday when all the battlers were here..if you ask me, there is hardly any more posts in there..KILL THE POLITICAL FORUM..combine that with OT AND SS lol..
why don't the powers that be make this just an all food forum and fuggetaboudit!
NINJA..LOL now THAT'S FUNNY.
PS..I've noticed since Ren orignially posted that activity has picked up in OT...what's the reason for that? hardly anyone posts there then all of a sudden BOOM..it's Mutiny I tell ya..plain ol' mutiny. Bah Humbug..sabotagers.
ps..and hey Nija, why should cooking be in with SS??? Are you trying to say that the *ahem* men/pirates on this forum don't cook? We know you all eat right? Stop being racist. How many of the FOOD posts in SS were started or contributed to by more men than women. How many females around here even post that much anymore..I can think of maybe 4 or 5..and that's it.

Women cook. Men follow recipes.
This is the women's forum (and they do deserve their own space), and in keep with my racists views, I want to keep you down and in the kitchen. Barefoot. And pregnant. Now make me a sandwich.

I'm a terrible cook, but my mother, father, and brother can make 5 course meals with out a recipe any where in the vicinity. I, use recipes measure things out, take twice as long, and dare say my meal is maybe 80% as good tasting..

The spices were sent..if you didn't recieve them blame the U.S. Postal service..I know I've sent other things to people and the stuff has been recieved just fine..maybe they doubted that they were spices and the sniffer dogs had them mistaken for DRUGS..omg..I'm a pusher!

I'm all for more food related posts, but I don't really care where they go. I almost exclusively use the "new posts" search, so I see them wherever they are. Now if I could just filter out the region specific deals and spam forum from the "new posts" search...
