Question for moms and breast pumps

Hey all, my wife and I have been renting a "hospital-grade" pump for our 2 month old over the past few months, and I think it's time to buy a pump. Since we're planning on having more children, I think it's financially better to have a pump we own and can transport.

We've already checked with our insurance and it seems that the coverage for a pump through insurance is highly conditional, so we don't qualify since our baby boy is healthy.

I've already looked into Medela pumps (In-Style model) and I've found them brand new for about $240 shipped.

Where have you gone to purchase your pumps and at what price?

Thanks!

Any reputable store that sells baby items should carry an assortment of breast pumps..but my recommendation after working years in the Maternal/Child areas of the hospital is to contact your local Le leche league (the breast feeding nazi's), and see what and where they recommend you to go in your area. TRUST ME, if it has to do with breast feeding, these people will be HAPPY to assist you!

I think there might be a few around here who fit that category as well.

We're definitely pro-breastfeeding...

I'll check out Le Leche League.

Does anyone know of a place with good prices? Thanks, again.

as for prices I am not too sure about that but I have used the Medela Pump In Style as have most of my friends. I have been breastfeeding for 5 years today. I have not had a break in that time. I Had pretty good luck with the PIS but I really love my hand pump but for daily pumping it is not that great but I like that I can control the suction and stuff. $240- is about what I have seen and heard of most people paying for the PIS.

I managed to get the Pump in Style for about $130 but that's because our hospital offered a nice discount if you had your child there, and we got an additional $75 gift certificate for being discharged a day early.

Oh yeah... I guess I just had a baby.

Congrats! That is a very cute baby. You know... if you flip through the pictures rapidly, it looks like the baby is dancing and throwing gang signs.
