anybody here allergic to metal?

i have no idea whats wrong with me, i've been like this for quite awhile now, don't know why i didn't post it here earlier. but i was just thinking about this today, and was like...hey...i should post this on gotapex. hehehe

anywho...as the post title says...i am allergic to metal. yes...quite weird. but i first found this out about 6 years ago, my belt buckle would give me a rash on my belly, and i had a metal dogtag necklace thing around my neck that that would also give me a rash. then...the metal eye glasses frame of my glasses, the coating peeled off and exposed the metal, and that gave me a rash on the side of my head, i had to put nail polish on it so it wouldn't touch the side of my head, my old razr phone had a metal ear piece and that gave me a little rash on my ear if i talked on it too long, and now my new samsung phone has a little metal button in the middle of my phone, and that would give me a rash on my cheek. i also bought a cheapo ring in hong kong, and that would give me a rash on my finger. tho...i have another silver ring, and another stainless steel (I think it's stainless steel) ring, and my metal watch (i think also stainless steel) but those don't give me a rash. so i've come to conclude that it's only certain kinds of metals that give me a rash.

it's a really inconvenient allergic reaction. just wondering if anybody else on here allergic to metal?

thats was all the examples i could give that gave me an allergic reaction to now. but yeah...quite weird.

You probably have a nickel allergy. Pretty common actually so you're not a complete freak.

A lot of people are alergic to Nickle that is found in earrings and other jewelrey. I wouldn't doubt it could be found in other accessories (belt buckles included).

Audrey had a reaction when she first got her ears done years ago- her ears looked like they had peas in the lobes! We took the earrings out and she didn't wear any for years.

That is an allergy i hadn't heard of. But nickel makes more sense than metal.

Can you hold coins in your hand?

my wife cant wear the cheap earrings or jewelry she get a rash.
has to be gold, white gold or platinum.
my mother when she was alive couldn't wear anything but a stainless steel watch. she get a rash around her wrist and up her arm. wearing a gold or silver gold watch or jewelry. even her wedding ring had to stay in a jewelry box.
there was one bright side to her allergy. both my dad and step dad saved a ton of cash. they never had to go into the jewelry stores. but it cost them seeing she like to travel.

i only get a rash when i have the metal (nickel) in contact with my skin for a long period of time. i'm sure coins will have the same effect if taped it there on my arm.

/me goes and finds 5 cents and tapes it on himself as an experiment.

I am allergic to lead, in the form of flying bullets, and nickle. I am only allergic to nickel if I am in contact with it for long periods of time.

No, you should be fine with stainless steel - but you will have to watch the nickle content in them. Unfortunately, they don't make that clear on the hang tags most of the time like on silverware.

There are a few stores that carry stuff

Funny you mention this. I have a rash on my face that may/may not be an allergic reaction. Nickel was named as a common cause.

The other possiblity is that my sebhorric (sp) dermatitis is spreading, and that just ****ing sucks.

I am probably, as being in direct contact has turned many a watch green (over time - which is why I don't buy any Fossil watches anymore). I only wear silver, gold and stainless steel.

i have a fossil watch and it doesn't give me a rash, or does it turn green on me. why would it turn green? the copper content?
