i have only bet on a race one time, had no idea what i was doing, and was completly lost, ended up winning on a longshot that was like 130 - 1 put $20 down and ended up taking it was all veyr confusing to me at the time

Yeah, whenever a horse breaks a leg/ankle, it is almost impossible to fix. It is usually something that will (like obby said) be unbelievably painful for the horse, if they try and fix it, by surgery or whatever. There are really no other options most of the time, unfortunately.

Yeah, I guess if that's in the best interest of the horse. It's hard to fathom because you don't often mercy kill a human. Even a dog can live with 3 legs. I guess it's just inherent to racing horses for our entertainment.
