all the weddings i have been to they never have played games!
the games have all been played at bachelors and bridal showers. has always been my take on weddings. have you talked to the bridal party to make sure what they are wanting from you? not trying to be a pain but don't want you to feel foolish at the wedding. and maybe im wrong and sorry for saying anything. but most weddings i have been to the MC just makes the announcement of the wedding party entering the hall, and who it is arriving as they walk in. and maybe when special dances are played.
but really i have never been to a wedding were they have played any games.

at the last wedding reception i went to the MC played a "price is right" type game where they had gifts for the guests and whichever contestant guessed the closest to the price of the gift got to take it home.

honestly i thought it was kinda lame, but oh well, if they're drunk enough, they'll enjoy it.

All of the weddings I've ever been to, the only game anyone played was 'drink until you think you know how to dance, and then get out there & shake it'

Although DF, I like your proposal...

I've done this quite a few times for Chinese weddings.
1) Get one hard boiled egg up one pant leg and out the other pant leg of the groom by the bride.
2) Pop three balloons without using your hands. First balloon placed on each others chest. Second balloon on each others back. Third balloon placed on the grooms crotch while he's sitting down and the bride tries to pop it.
3) Blind fold the groom and have volunteers kiss him on the cheek to see if he can tell which kiss is his wife.
4) Blind fold the bride and have volunteers line up in a row while the bride grabs each butt to determine which one is her husbands.

This one was played at my wedding

My cousin in laws "kidnapped" my wife and she couldn't be free until I collected 500 dollars from the guests.

Then...I had to sing to get her back....good thing I'm a music teacher.

I've also seen a question and answer thing being done....a "do you know your spouse" type thing where they'll ask some semi-embarrassing questions.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

Huh... Never been at such a reception.

One of my friends told me about a reception in which the Emcee handed out keys to all the female guests. Then, he announced that since the groom was now off the market, everyone had to hand in their keys. Apparently, it was really funny that tons of women, including little old grandmas & young teens walked up to hand in keys. Personally, I think a lot of the "games" are lame, and I'd have to be really drunk to enjoy.

Yeah I thought receptions were mainly dancing and drinking. One time I was at a regular reception and these guys showed up and said they were at a wedding at the other ballroom in the hotel, but it was a dry Mormon wedding and they wanted to know if they could sneak a few drinks at ours. They ended up staying the entire night.

heres what we did at my brothers weeding

have the entire wedding party up front and sitting on folding chairs. The mc will call out an item. Say, a left shoe, a belt, an out of state drivers liscense.

the entire party needs to rush out into the guests and find that item, every time the take off when an item is called out a chair is removed. last person to get back with the item is eliminated. lsat man standing wins. this can be a lot of fun but make sure you get a good list together, thats not too easy, but also not to hard. and make sure the bridesmaids are not throwing elbows...

it's mainly because the bride and groom aren't dancers and drinkers. It's a small chinese banquet where most guests are Asians and of the older generation ...
