how do you clear the pop feeling you get from the air pressure when on or after a plane ride ?

try holding your nostrils shut and swallowing or holding your nostrils shut and slightly try to blow air out your nose. this is typically how you would equalize pressure when scuba diving. i imagine it would work the same.

I had to fly once with a really bad head cold. One of my ears didn't pop until noon the next day. It really sucked.

What Alpo said has worked for me. It's been said- lot's of yawning, lot's of swallowing (Nija insert comment here heh). That's a big reason why everyone chews gum. People think it's a magic fix for popping ears, but eating anything would have the same effect.

I do the gum thing, but yawning helps too.

Sorry, I know this is late but I just saw this thread. I had some really serious problems with sinus, headaches and the ear popping when flying until a doctor gave me the solution. About 1/2 hour before take off and about the same amount of time before landing shoot up some nasal spray. I can't remember the brand I used but I don't think it would really matter as long as it's a good one. This even helped me after I had landed and had forgotten to take any with me. I guess it has to do with the mucus in your sinuses creating pressure that causes the ears to pop and the sinus pain.
This really does work, try it next time.
