all about dreams

Why do some dreams seem so real.

why do other dreams seem so real. even do you know there is no possible way they could of been.

why do you have some dreams that are so off base you know even as your dreaming there just dreams?

why do you dream sometimes only to have the memory of that dream. come back to you months or years later as a real event.

why do some dreams seem to return or continuing storys when you go to sleep a day or two later ?

(they say dreaming is good for you and we all need to dream )

I've always wondered about a lot of these questions.
I often have dreams that occur in the same setting over weeks and months after the original dream. It's always the same setting though down to each detail. I have very realistic dreams sometimes, then other times they are obviously dreams. The worst ones are when I dream of something that upsets me, then when I wake up I can't shake that feeling. Like if I had been upset at a certain person in my dream, I awake knowing it was a dream, but later seeing that person makes me retain that feeling even though I know I'm not really upset at them.
I do have "precognitive" dreams every once in a while. Not as much as I used to. These are the "deja vu" dreams where you dream something, then months or years later it happens down to each exact spoken word or visual detail. I'm always ready to blurt out "deja vu!" but I can never seem to stop or change the events happening.

interesting questions. I'll post some of what I know from a neuropsych standpoint a little later.
