My girlfriend thinks shes fat...so whats new
ok I need help. My girlfriend thinks shes fat. I dont think so... she has a little bit of a belly but the rest of her is in great shape...i think most girls would be jealous of her body. Thing is I am having a hugely difficult time comforting her and she has been going through consistently increasing bouts of depression over it. I tell her all the time that she is beutiful and looks great but she thinks I am biassed. I know she still likes to heaer it but it doesnt really look like it really means much to her. She says she doesnt care how much she weighs, she just doesnt look like she wants to look. she has tried several eating lifestyles to no avail mostly cause she has very little willpower i belive.
on one method...no sugar diet, it says you can eat peanut butter, i dont think it meant you can eat an entire jar of peanut butter in three days. ont this diet she spent a week eaing nothing but peanut butter and natural jelly sandwiches. I know that you have to watch your portions and very your diet as mucha s possible but that doesnt get through to her. anyways that is off my question. What i an asking is for any advice from you girls on what else i cando to comfort her beyond what I am doing to this point. I also feel really guilty because i dont really watch what i eat and it must suck for her to watch me eat lots of junk, but in my situation i really cant do much about my eating habits. I really love her and i want the best for her and i would appreciate any advice you girls could give. Thanks

First, congrats on wanting to help her. But my question is... Why can't you do much about your eating habits?? I mean, (Not that I'm one to talk, certainly. lol), you say you feel guilty, but... What is your situation?

fad diets bad. period. variety and balance are important. the more vegetables you eat, the better off you are, period, in about a million different ways. most people should drink milk. eat as little of obvious junk food as you can handle. no sugary drinks, including juice. peanut butter is good for you. whole grains (and i don't mean "whole wheat" bread that has been dyed a light brown, i mean like brownberry brand "health nut" bread) are good. don't do a protein diet unless you both want a personal ass-kicking from me and a slow and painful death around age 40.
that's how to eat healthfully. but the other issue... tough. my cousin's wife is drop-dead gorgeous, and full-figured, and i don't mean that euphemistically... she makes guys drool. but she feels fat. when she got her prom pictures back senior year, she thought she looked so fat in her dress that she couldn't stop crying. there really isn't a heck of a lot you can do for her, except love her and tell her how beautiful she is. oh, and bag on any model you see, including the victoria's secret models. call them deathly skinny and sick looking. and say that their boobies are obviously fake, since nobody with 4% body fat can maintain decent ones. (i know they're real, freaks of nature, but real, but just LIE, okay?) that always puts a smile on my face.

thank you girls, its really reaffirming to hear that it isnt just my girlfriend that freaks out like that. I mean i know most girls think they are fat, but i didnt know that they also freak out and cry. I will do my best.
oh and jenny? i work 40 hours a week and go to school full time. by the time i get home im too exhausted to cook and just get something fast and nasty to eat. |

hey froggy, my good friend in colorado, who happens to be almost as thin as that ally Mcbeal character on TV, was "watching her weight" for the last several years... i swear, the girl looks absolutely perfect, and everyone that knows here tells her she needs to ADD weight to look normal. But, for a long time she would only eat little bits, and only "healthy foods" and stuff. She kept sayingshe didnt want to get fat (and shes really active, played basketball etc.) Well, here rescently, i dont know what happened, but she tells me that she's not "dieting" anymore, and eating enough, instead of the little portions. Of course, shes 2 years older (19ish) now and maybe realized that being super skinny isnt a smart thing.
So, i was relieved when she told me that. So, i guess its prolly an age thing maybe, and peer pressure, for other girls, and girls on TV that are super super skinny... just keep trying d00d. I was always saying little things like "eat up" or "better eat enough" and sometimes i would make her finish her meal just by acting all serious that i was gonna be mad at her if she didnt. If the gal is really your friend, she'll understand you only have the best intentions for her, even if you do "got onto her" a lot about it.

maybe you two should join a gym together, its healthy and its fun to go together instead of working out alone.
