foooood!
hey everyone! i was just wondering if any of you had suggestions on which restaurants are good to take a date to? it could just be ur favorite or a place that u think would work (anything from budget to expensive, as our dates vary by occasion).
we (she and i) are pretty willing to try novel things, so any type of cuisine is fine also. i'm in the palos verdes/torrance area, but don't mind driving out as far as LA if it's worth it. if any of u ever had the same question, try marmalade cafe, il posto, or my favorite, restaurante christine's.... thanks in advance. --john |

theres 2 off the top of my head
orange hill: the place is ok/decent food but a BEAUTIFUL view of oc; located in tustin. pricey though. c&o trattoria: place is in marina del rey. very close to the beach (you can see it from outside their front door). good food, good deal for the proportion you get, and they have these wonderful lil bread rolls. oh so good!! |

The Stinking Rose in Beverly Hills, it's nice, I really like the actual restruant decor. I was gonna go there last night for dinner, but didn't have the $. It's not too pricey, but good if you like Garlic.

still trying to make my way out to Yamashiro, out downtown. i hear the atmosphere is really nice there, and the food's not bad. but it's pretty pricey too.

honestly, i don't think yamashiro is all that. for that kind of price, it's def not worth it. the only thing nice about that place is the scenery, but i'd rather go on top of the bonaventure hotel for the scenery.

McCormick & Schmick's off of Rosecrans in El Segundo is excellent. They have top-notch seafood and other specialties. They also have a band playing outside on Friday and Saturday nights.
There is also a Houston's right across the street, but Merlin and I have both had so-so food there. They have different ideas of what constitutes "rare", "medium" and "well-done" when it comes to meat. We had to send our steaks back twice to get them cooked right. In Marina del Rey, there is the Cafe del Rey and the Warehouse which are both quite good. The Warehouse usually has live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. In Redondo Beach (King Harbor) and Marina del Rey there is the Cheesecake Factory - they don't take reservations so there's usually a pretty bad wait. The food is ok. Also in the Redondo Beach (King Harbor) is The Chart House - excellent seafood. Also, In Hermosa Beach there is the Comedy and Magic Club. They have pretty good food but better yet they have big-name comics there all the time. Jay Leno is there every Sunday Night.
